I like the story you wrote that says "He stared at the picture longingly." I enjoy that story because it makes me wonder who or what is in the picture (a dog, a significant other, a distant city, etc.) and why he (the character) is separated from said person, place, or thing. If given a chance to assume my own plot for the story, however, I would say that he was staring at a picture of a significant other or a family member who had either passed away or had fallen out with him a while ago and now he wants them back.
Hey Ellaina, I liked all your stories, but my favorite is "Everyone stood up to show respect" because in my head I can imagine this story ending in so many ways.
I like the "why don't you take a stab?" Because in life often people talk trash and most of the time they can't do any better.
